Peoples Housing Council

Introducing the People’s Housing Council

Finding affordable housing has been a problem in the United States for years. Because of this, the number of homeless has greatly increased to where it has become a national problem.

The for-profit housing system is the root cause of this homelessness epidemic. As ownership of housing becomes concentrated further and further within the hands of a few large housing conglomerates and cartels, the price of housing continues to soar past what is affordable for the general public. Many working people are forced to live in their cars because they cannot afford rent!

The People’s Housing Council wants to build an America where homelessness is a thing of the past. This demands a policy where housing is safe, affordable, and handicap-accessible.

People’s Housing Council seeks to redirect the bloated military budget towards federally subsidized decent housing for all working people.

Principles of the People’s Housing Council:

• Housing is a human right and not a commodity for profit, and should be included in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution.

• The Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act must be enacted into law.

• Historical oppression & discrimination in housing must be addressed & remedied.

• Transfer money from the bloated military budget to fund subsidized housing.
